Dentist Surgery / Doctors Practice Basic Life Support & AED - 3 Hours

The Resuscitation Council (UK) recommends that: "Staff should undergo regular training in the management of medical emergencies to a level appropriate to their expected clinical responsibilities." 'Standards for Clinical Practice and Training for Dental Practitioners and Dental Care Professionals in Dental Practice' were issued by the Resuscitation Council UK in July 2006.

CPR updates are required for clinicians every 18 months with yearly training recommended. Non-clinicians require 3 yearly training for but again yearly updates are recommended.

Our 3 hour course for dental practices covers the requirements listed above. Courses are designed for both clinical and non-clinical staff. We use the most up to date Resuscitation Council guidelines on our courses.

The course content can be tailored to suit your particular requirements. However it usually includes dealing with collapse, airway management, CPR & AED, choking and common medical emergencies.

The guidance states: Medical emergencies can happen at any time in dental practice. If you employ, manage or lead a team, you should make sure that:

  • There are arrangements for at least two people to be available to deal with medical emergencies when treatment is planned to take place.
  • All members of staff, not just the registered team members, know their role if a patient collapses or there is another kind of medical emergency.
  • All members of staff who might be involved in dealing with a medical emergency are trained and prepared to deal with such an emergency at any time, and practice together regularly in a simulated emergency so they know exactly what to do.

Our courses meet the HSE standards for 'Due Diligence' for first aid providers.
