First Aid at Work plus Forestry - 18 Hours

Standard First aid at Work course which additionally includes extra content suitable for forestry contractors and workers (+ Forestry) working on Forestry Commission sites/contracts.

Our courses meet the HSE standards for 'Due Diligence' for first aid providers.

Accreditation - The First Aid Training Co-operative is an ISO 9001:2015 certified organisation. You can reply on our quality assured systems for the appropriate training assessment and accreditation of your course. The Co-op is also a member of the Scottish First Aid Association and operative is insured through the Association of First Aiders, whom we are also members.

Core course contents listed below:

  • Vital signs – breathing, level of consciousness, temperature, colour & Casualty Monitoring
  • Incident management – a systematic approach to managing first aid incidents. ABCDE
  • Airway Management – causes and treatment of unconscious collapse. Recovery Position and other Safe Airway Positions
  • Breathing Problems - cardiac arrest CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), drowning CPR, heart attack, angina, choking
  • Circulation Problems – Internal bleeding, external bleeding and treatment for shock. Bandaging issues
  • Damage – treatment of injury: chest, abdomen, pelvis, leg & arm
  • Head and spinal injuries and spinal management
  • Common Illnesses – asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
  • Dealing with burns
  • Dealing with poisons
  • Animal bites and stings
  • Awareness of current regulations

The Forestry Commission state that the extra content should include:

  • Hypothermia
  • Lyme Disease
  • Major bleed management
  • Crush injury
  • Emergency action planning

This course can also include outdoor scenario practice if desired.
