Paediatric First Aid - 12 Hours

This 12 hour, 2 Day, Childcare First Aid course contains child and infant first aid techniques. It is practical and hands on skill development and lots of fun as well.

It is designed to meet the requirements of Ofsted for registered childminders and the requirements for first aid for nannies (England & Wales).

It is ideal for those working in a childcare setting - nursery, kindergarten, home childcare provider.

The course is useful to those who take children away from the school or the nursery setting, on walks to the park or to catch a bus to activities.

We also run Anaphylaxis First Aid (EpiPen training)

Paediatric course core content:

  • A systematic approach to incident management
  • Incident management scenarios
  • Dealing with incidents safely
  • Infant, Child and Adult Resuscitation procedures
  • Choking
  • Bleeding - internal/external, major/minor
  • Shock - hypovolemic and anaphylactic
  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Treating Damage - suspected fractures, head, neck and back injuries
  • Eye injuries and foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
  • Bites and stings
  • Poisoning
  • Burns and scalds
  • Electric shock
  • Common illness (recognition and management) - epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes
  • Record keeping and action plans

Our courses meet the HSE standards for 'Due Diligence' for first aid providers.

Accreditation - The First Aid Training Co-operative is an ISO 9001:2015 certified organisation. You can reply on our quality assured systems for the appropriate training assessment and accreditation of your course. The Co-op is also a member of the Scottish First Aid Association and operative is insured through the Association of First Aiders, whom we are also members.
