As a professional driver, you must do 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to drive a lorry, bus or coach. This is known as Driver CPC Training.

The best way is to join a Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) approved course. You can see our certification here.

Our emergency first aid course is contextualised for professional drivers (HGV & PSV). This 7 hour emergency first aid course counts towards  your 35 hours of training and provides you with the skills and confidence needed to administer first aid in emergency situations while on the road.

We make it easy by uploading qualification details to the DSA database within five working days of course completion.

Ali was a great, friendly, enthusiastic and honest assessor, he made the course both informative and entertaining.  The first aid experiences of the 12 students ranged from very to none and yet this was never an issue and as someone with no experience I didn't at any point feel out of my depth.

Just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for the training over the past two days. Although I realise how important it is to know first aid training and unfortunately had to use it a few times, I always dread the training as it always shows people dying/injured and horrific scenes.

For the first time ever, the training you provided did not send me home having nightmares and dreading the following day. Your manner and personality in the class was perfect, and a rare occasion can someone hold attention of a class to the level you did.

I liked the way you broke the day into sections and brought everything back together again at the end. I do feel I have learned some new ‘tools for the box’, I can only hope and pray I will never need to use them.

I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the trainers and everything was extremely well explained. It gave me confidence that I would be able to react to a range of scenarios and I enjoyed that they showed you how to utilise everyday items rather than specialist equipment.

I felt the instructors were very confident, knowledgeable and approachable. There was a lot of repetition of key skills which helped make it stick in your head and lots of opportunity for individual problem solving. I really enjoyed the course and found it interesting and helpful.

Couldn’t praise Ali enough. Delivered at the right level for an experienced group, and challenged us all on the second day with real life simulations. Our prior training was very much ‘casualty lying on the back, standard procedure’.

The teaching was very good and did not fall into the usual trap of just trying to show off their own knowledge. Both instructors where not only very knowledgeable, but also very personable and easy to learn from!

As requested I've completed the survey, but just to say once again it was excellent course.  Very well presented,  relevant content and (surprisingly in the circumstances) plenty of practicals, all delivered in a Covid-safe way.

I have done many first aid courses over the years, there is usually something I forget or can't take in. This course was very thorough, on subjects that I expected, but was delivered in a way that made it easier to understand 'why' things do what they do, so therefore a lot easier to remember.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Mike Smith who delivered the first of 2 OFA courses for Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team.  The feedback has been very positive.  I was able to observe some of the course and I would say that it was the best first aid course delivery I have ever seen.

Mike has a methodical approach, is interactive and allows for time for the candidates to practice. His friendly and supportive approach also allows people to ask questions and get involved.

Word has got round the team and the next lot of candidates are keenly looking forward to the next course.
