Advanced First Aid – 1 Day Module

Our Advanced First Aid courses are fun, interactive and build the techniques required to confidently and proactively deal with more serious incidents and provide a more advanced level of casualty care. Courses can be tailored for a variety of contexts and activities and include practical scenarios.

This course is aimed at First Aid Trainers, but can benefit anyone who is experienced at first aid, and wants to take their knowledge and understanding to the next level.

It is assumed that you have a currently valid First Aid at Work certificate if you are joining the Advanced First Aid course.  

Alternatively, we run these as a 3 day course as an additional module following a First Aid at Work Refresher course for private groups.

Advanced First Aid Course Content:

• Record keeping and how to present yourself (perception of skill level)
• Casualty assessment / taking a history / physical examination
• Wound assessment
• Burns and blisters
• Trauma - dealing with fractures (femur splinting) and dislocations in the field
• Wound cleaning practical
• Steri-strips & suturing
• Use of haemostats and tourniquets practical
• Pain management
• Hydration / fluid replacement
• Prevention of illness
• Ten Second Triage
• Private courses can contain other specific content relevant to the group, these can be added at the time of booking.
