First Aid Training Co-operative have been the First Aid training partner for Forestry & Land Scotland for the last 5 years. This has involved training a huge number of their staff at regional bases across Scotland in courses such as Emergency First Aid at Work, and First Aid at Work, plus both of these with the additional required ‘+F’ module for forestry operations.
During this time, the Covid 19 pandemic struck which meant that all training had to be carried out online as blended courses, with just the practical assessment happening in person in very small groups. Working with the Learning and Development team at Forestry & Land Scotland, we were able to develop and deliver suitable blended training courses, to continue ensuring that their workforce would be first aid trained throughout the pandemic.
Following this, Forestry & Land Scotland then asked us to create a bespoke Annual Skills Refresher online course for their forestry first aid staff, to which we of course obliged, and which proved to be so popular and such an efficient solution for their L&D team that they continue to choose it long after standard training returned to face to face courses.
Forestry & Land Scotland staff work in a huge variety of roles, covering offices, forest rangers, ecologists, leisure and active pursuit rangers, group leaders, and of course forestry operations. This requires a dynamic and experienced team of trainers to deliver courses that often include members of staff from many of these departments, and often means some big variations from the standard delivery of a First Aid at Work course. It is however greatly appreciated by participants on the courses, who enjoy the extra effort our trainers go to.
