About our Annual CPR Update Courses for Doctors, Dentists and other Healthcare Professionals
We offer private CPR, AED and BLS first aid training at your practice or health centre across the UK, in association with Focus Training, members of the First Aid Training Co-operative and specialists in the sector.
Annual Medical Emergency CPD training is a requirement for Healthcare Professionals such as Clinical staff at health centres, surgeries and General Practices. Non clinical staff who work in practices should complete the training every 3 years as a minimum.
Our CPR and AED course is almost entirely practical and covers Basic Life Support, CPR & AED. We can include some paediatric elements for practices that work with children too.
Whilst satisfying their annual Medical Emergency CPD Training requirements, and receiving all the latest essential Basic Life Support updates, our clients love the opportunity to practice CPR rather than just watching a trainer do it. They also find that practice using one of our trainer AEDs in small groups is really valuable.
How to Book a Course for Your Medical Practice
Our private healthcare professional focused first aid courses are delivered at your practice or surgery, at a time and date to suit you, at locations across the UK.
You can tell us what you’d like included and how much time you will have available, we’ll come to you and tailor your course to suit your specific situation. Generally courses are from 1 – 3 hours long to fit into your practice’s schedule and start at £250+VAT for up to 12 participants at your venue.
This course will empower yourself and your team to feel confident, should the worst happen.
Recommendations for Annual CPD
Guidance from the Resuscitation Council for Doctors, General Practitioners, and other Clinical Staff
The Resuscitation Council UK Quality standards for Primary Care state that “All staff in a primary care organisation, including non-clinical staff, should undergo regular training in resuscitation of both adults and children to the level appropriate to their role.” “Clinical staff should have at least annual updates.” and “Non-clinical staff generally should have annual updates also. However, a local risk assessment may be undertaken to assess the likelihood of them encountering a patient requiring resuscitation“
Guidance from the Resuscitation Council for Dentists and Dental Surgery Staff
The Resuscitation Council UK Quality standards for Primary Dental Care state that “Primary dental care providers, general dental practitioners and all other dental healthcare professionals should undergo training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) including basic airway management and the use of an AED“.
General guidance from the Resuscitation Council on AED provision
The general public expects AEDs to be available in every healthcare setting. All clinical areas should have immediate access to an automated external defibrillator (AED).
It is recommended that clinical staff participate in ‘Hands-on’ simulation training and assessment. This training should be undertaken annually.
Guidance from the General Dental Council
As a dental professional you must plan your CPD activity. The GDC has identified CPD topics that relate to many dental professionals in their field of practice.

I would like to say a massive thank you to Mike Smith who delivered the first of 2 OFA courses for Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team. The feedback has been very positive. I was able to observe some of the course and I would say that it was the best first aid course delivery I have ever seen.
Mike has a methodical approach, is interactive and allows for time for the candidates to practice. His friendly and supportive approach also allows people to ask questions and get involved.
Word has got round the team and the next lot of candidates are keenly looking forward to the next course.

Just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for the training over the past two days. Although I realise how important it is to know first aid training and unfortunately had to use it a few times, I always dread the training as it always shows people dying/injured and horrific scenes.
For the first time ever, the training you provided did not send me home having nightmares and dreading the following day. Your manner and personality in the class was perfect, and a rare occasion can someone hold attention of a class to the level you did.
I liked the way you broke the day into sections and brought everything back together again at the end. I do feel I have learned some new ‘tools for the box’, I can only hope and pray I will never need to use them.
