Cory sea kayaking GairlochRecently Cory has invested in his passion, and set up the Gairloch Canoe and Kayak Centre. Based in Gairloch he spends some of each summer guiding people around the Gairloch and Loch Maree in search of wildlife and adventure. Gairloch is a great centre for kayaking and canoeing with a rich culture and wildlife and the recent designation as part of the Wester Ross Biosphere Reserve.

He runs Walking and Wildlife Adventures which specialises in taking people walking on the Torridon Munros. The picture isn’t from Torridon but from Harris!

Cory still finds time to do some freelance outdoor work for companies like Wilderness Scotland.

Cory enjoys open water swimming and swam across the Firth of Forth in 2016, one day he would like to swim the Bosphorus.

Earlier this year he organised a basketball tournament in Gairloch for Highland Basketball teams. Teams from Inverness, Fort William and Oban came to Gairloch to enjoy a fun day of basketball. Check out number 11 in the picture, Cory is about to score!

Crossing the patagonian ice cap

Back in 2009-10 Cory with Martin and John Shipton spent 23 days crossing the Patagonian ice cap. This followed the original Eric Shipton route.

Last year Cory took six months off and with his partner Mandy, the walked a significant length of the Pacific Coast Trail and the whole of the Oregon Coastal Trail in the USA. They made a film of the adventure which can be viewed on YouTube. The film “He and She walk the PCT” was selected to open the Scottish Mountain Film Festival, at Inverewe in 2017.
