In response to the evolving safety needs within the Scouting and Guiding community, we are excited to launch a first aid course designed specifically for Scout and Guide volunteers. This course not only meets the latest requirements set by the Scouts Association following the Great Orme enquiry but also provides participants with a recognised Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
Why is This Course Essential?
The Great Orme enquiry highlighted the importance of first aid skills among Scout and Guide volunteers, leading to new first aid requirements for those working with young people. Being prepared to handle emergencies is more than just a box to tick; it’s about ensuring the safety and well-being of the young people under your care.
Our course covers critical first aid scenarios that volunteers are likely to encounter, ensuring you are equipped to act confidently in an emergency.

What You’ll Gain
1. Tailored for Scout and Guide Volunteers
This course has been created with the specific needs of Scout and Guide leaders in mind. Whether you’re helping to organise weekend camps or adventure activities, our training focuses on real-world applications relevant to outdoor settings.
2. Recognised Certification
Using our popular EFAW+ format means that on completion, participants will receive the Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, a recognised qualification that provides not only reassurance within your Scout or Guide group but also adds value to your personal and professional development.
Both our EFAW+Scout & Guides course, and our Outdoor First Aid 2 Days course (with added content for Scouts included) are recognised by Scouts Scotland as being suitable for volunteers.
3. Comprehensive Training
You’ll learn how to assess and handle a variety of incidents, including:
• CPR and Defibrillator use for both adults and young people
• Dealing with wounds, fractures, and burns
• Managing medical emergencies like asthma, allergic reactions, and common illnesses
• Effective communication during an emergency
You can see a full Emergency First Aid at Work for Scouts & Guides content list here
4. Practical, Hands-On Approach
Our training includes interactive, scenario-based exercises, so you’ll leave the course not only with theoretical knowledge but also practical skills you can rely on in real situations.
5. Online Learning
The course utilises a ‘blended learning’ format. Following the practical face to face training day, you’ll do an online module that can be completed at your own pace and will further your learning and understanding of various topics.
