FSB Awards 2023 Finalists

The final of the FSB Scotland business awards was held on March 8th at the voco® Grand Central, directly adjoining Glasgow Central station. As well as these awards the hotel has played host to everyone: from politicians such as Winston Churchill to Hollywood stars like Frank Sinatra. One of our Directors Cory Jones went to the award ceremony on behalf of First Aid training Co-operative.

This year there were a record number of applications from right across Scotland, representing the majority of sectors and from businesses at very different stages in their journey. Entrants were judged by a panel of leading business experts with a wealth of experience in their industry. There were 68 finalists competing across 12 categories.

The First Aid Training Co-operative (FATC) was up for the hotly contested ‘Micro Business of the Year’  award. In 2022 Cory Jones (FATC Director) won this award with his outdoor adventure business Highland Experiences.

There were nine finalists in this category this year which made it a very competitive field. Other categories had between two and six finalists. The eventual winner was KM Events Ltd (Yellow Hare) which is a small, licenced cafe and gift shop on Tiree. They promote local products with over 90% of their gifts coming from the island. We wish them every success going to the national finals in Birmingham in May.

First Aid Training Co-operative gained their place in the final in recognition of the re-pivoting of their business during Covid to run online training courses. Then as the pandemic ended getting back to face-to-face training and increasing the number of contracts it delivered. The key to this was continuing to deliver great first aid training with well-motivated and highly skilled staff team. As we all know – Quality Training Saves Lives.  Our clients benefited too from our more flexible approach which meant many of the smaller self-employed business owners were able to maintain their First Aid accreditations through the rocky days of the pandemic.
