Firt Aid for GolfersScottish Golf and First Aid Training Co-operative have worked together to develop and promote a golfers first aid course, specifically designed for those who work and coach in the golfing sector.

Alan Dobie from First Aid training Co-operative who has been developing the course with Scottish Golf said, “The course will equip you to deal with emergency first aid situations confidently. A combination of demonstrations and scenarios make the training day lively and interactive. This is not a ‘Death by PowerPoint’ course. We will have participants practicing first aid skills in golfing situations throughout the day”.

Alan has been working with Gavin Forrester, Coaching & Welfare Officer at Scottish Golf and has now trialled the course with a number of Scottish Golf’s member clubs.

Unfortunately, accidents happen on golf courses, driving ranges, practice areas and people fall ill whilst at the golf club. The first aid course which has been designed for Scottish Golf covers the basic first aid skills required by law for any business (Emergency First Aid at Work qualification) but it also includes a number of golf specific injuries – head injury recognition following a club or ball striking someone on the skull, dealing with lightening strike, using an AED, eyes injuries from sand bunkers plus issues working remotely from the club house.

Recent course feedback – “I thought the course represented excellent value for money and gave me the updated refresher that I required. The size of the training group was ideal in that we were able to build good relationships with the trainer and the other participants.”

The first aid course has been titled Emergency First Aid at Work + Golf. It can be delivered at your clubhouse by one of our experienced and knowledge first aid trainers. To apply for a course for you club contact Gavin Forrester at Scottish Golf.
