About Our Equestrian Specific Digital First Aid Manuals

First Aid Training Co-operative has been producing digital first aid manuals since 2016 and after partnering up with Medi-K First Aid in 2020 we published our ‘Equestrian specific’ version of the digital manual series.

This is a unique product full of useful information for riders, grooms, coaches and livery owners. It is a digital manual developed specifically for the equestrian marketplace and is part of a suite of digital first aid manuals we produce.

What is a Digital Equestrian First Aid Manual?

These manuals can be downloaded to your phone or tablet meaning that first aid treatment and knowledge is at your fingertips in case of an emergency. Each manual takes up as much space as two photographs so won’t slow your device.

Additionally, you can look up any information about first aid issues with the swipe of your finger. With around 60 pages of full colour content covering the first aid basics including dealing with bleeds and CPR (adult and child), it also deals with many equestrian specific issues such as heat stoke, horse kicks, bites and stings. We also cover dealing with hats, body protectors and air vests on an injured casualty.

If you have not done a first aid course recently this manual is ideal for revision.

Links to videos within the manual.

This is not just a first aid book, it contains links to a series of over 60 short instructional YouTube videos which demonstrate a wide range of first aid techniques including CPR, recovery position, dealing with limb injuries, impaled objects and much, much more. Typical videos on our channel include How to Insulate, shelter and monitor a casualty in the outdoors as well as How to apply slings for arm or shoulder injuries. Often, it’s easier to watch someone demonstrate a technique before you do it in the yard or field.

Links to blogs within the manual.

Each page in the manual has specific information on topics like treating horse bites, hat removal, rope burns, hypothermia and much more. They also have embedded within them links to high quality equestrian specific blogs which give much further detailed information for those who want it. Some blog examples accessible through the link in the manual are First aid for Horse Bites and What horse riders need to know about Lyme Disease

At the launch of the manual in 2020, Cory Jones, Director of First Aid Training Co-operative and Medi-K said ‘We are so proud of our new Equestrian First Aid manual. Customers have been asking about this for months and it is great to have released the product the sector so badly needs. This is not a book, it an interactive manual that could help you to save a life in the event of an equestrian accident.’

What other manuals are available?

Other manuals are for First Aid at Work, Outdoor First Aid, Paediatric First Aid and Sports First Aid. Each of these including the equestrian version takes up the space of a couple of photos on your phone. All of these manuals can be purchased from our FIRST AID SHOP.
